Tips to consider before doing a juice cleanse
A juice cleanse is a great way to rid your body of toxins, kick those pesky cravings, and become a stronger, healthier version of yourself. Here's how to do it right!
Thinking about doing a juice cleanse? Summer is the perfect time to take a short break from the heavy foods that bog down your system and trap toxins in your gut.
But wait! Before you cut out solids, keep these tips in mind:
1. Prepare, prepare, prepare!
Make sure you have enough ingredients on-hand to juice for your 1-, 2-, or 7-day cleanse!
2. Drink lots of water (and herbal tea)
This will help flush toxins from your body
3. Use more veggies than fruits
Fruits might make your juices taste a whole lot better, but they contain a lot of sugar. A little bit is great, but too much can result in energy crashes.
4. Do your research
Rushing into a juice cleanse blind can be dangerous, especially if you have no idea what you’re doing. Take the time to figure out if a cleanse is right for you, and learn how to do it safely.
5. Eat salads if you’re starving
If your body needs to chew, depriving it isn’t helping anybody. You can still reap the benefits of a cleanse if you add in a salad here and there.
6. Alert your friends and family
Tell everyone that you’re doing a juice cleanse, so they can support you and keep their delicious, mouth-watering food to themselves.
Resist those temptation by hopping on your yoga mat for a gentle stretch, or download a guided meditation app.
8. Take is easy
You might be tired for the first day or so, but soon you’ll be hit by a bout of energy! But deny your body the urge to hit the gym or run a marathon. You need fuel for these activities that juice alone can’t sustain!
Keep track of your progress by putting pen to paper. This will help you work through any challenges you face along the way.
It’ll all be over soon – and you’ll feel great! Until then, take it one breath at a time.
